Heart of War, by CL Foster & ER Rada
“The Hundred Years War rages around Adalira Mortimer’s life and country, but she is not what is expected of a Lady; instead of dresses and tea, she dreams about weapons and war.
Bastian Kyros is not typical royalty. Being a warrior is in his blood, not paperwork and peace-keeping.
Tradition drives their families. She is expected to don her manners and win a worthy husband, and he is expected to drop his sword and do what’s right for the sake of his family’s name, land, and future.
Their chance meeting at the party of the season may offer them both the chance to find what they desire. Brought together by their longing for battle, their greatest fight may be in winning over their families and conquering their own pride.
A lull in battle does not mean there is peace. The greatest of wars are fought in the heart.” (via Goodreads)
So this one just sort of fell in my lap one day. One of my author cohorts (and Fierce 5 sister), CL Foster tells me she’s working on a historical romance with a friend of hers and how she was very much not looking forward to designing a cover, and, well, that’s just silly because I’m right here, man. LOL
I happened across the photo used on this cover ages ago and snagged it figuring I’d use it eventually. It was just too pretty to pass up! Well, I finally got my opportunity to use it, and here’s the result. Consequently, I was also sort of responsible for the tag line and a bit of doctoring on the blurb, so I got to flex all kinds of creative muscles on this project! I love projects I can really sink my teeth into and get behind, and CL’s got one of my favorite elements in this story: a heroine that loves to kick butt!
This one goes live next month, so be on the lookout!
