SNOW, by V.G. Ford
“It’s Christmas. The Solstice Covenant is in full effect. So when the StarChild sends her to the North Pole to investigate the disappearance of an Earth Lord, Nikki Jeffries has to rely on something other than her normal habit of killing anyone who crosses her. Luckily, a sexy Jack Frost is there to help her out.” (via the item description on Amazon.com)
When Val Ford approached me to do a cover for this holiday story set in her Dark Horsemen universe, the one thing she told me was “Snowflakes! Lots and lots of snowflakes!”. Well, snowflakes is what she got. When I thought about the setting of the story, I couldn’t imagine what would be more fitting than the magical Northern Lights in the arctic sky. My favorite part of this image has to be the title text though. The frosty letters really grab your attention.
The landscape was rendered in TerraRay, with additional compositing and typography completed in Adobe Photoshop CS4.
