At Journey's End, by Michele Bekemeyer

At Journey’s End (Scandals of the Heart: Book Two), by Michele Bekemeyer

“She risked everything to have him…

Lady Alexandra is pretty, intelligent, wealthy…and single. Haunted by a youthful indiscretion, she’s spent season after season avoiding marriage. When a revelation tilts her world on its axis, the future she only dreamed possible is in her reach. Can she forgive the ghost of her past in order to secure her happiness?

He will risk his life to get her back…

Lord Winterley spent years regretting his callous treatment of Alexandra, so when the chance for redemption arises, he will go to any lengths to gain her favor. Forgiveness is the first of many obstacles he will face, including a dangerous criminal whose presence threatens her life. Will he risk losing her forever in order to catch a traitor?

Love may mark the end of their travels, but their journey is just beginning.” (via the description on Amazon.com)

Remember when Trapping a Duchess dropped a bomb of awesome on everyone? Yeah, well, Ms. Bekemeyer did it again. Oh yeah. Book two can now be yours!
I did this cover immediately following Trapping a Duchess, so I’ve been holding on to this bad boy since, oh, March or so (!!!). I’m super excited it’s finally out there in the world and I hope it does great things like TAD has been. Last month, book one cracked the Amazon Top 100 in Historical Romance for Kindle and paperback! With all the buzz about that one, I expect great, great things for Michele for book two.
I’m not much of a romance reader, but dang do I like doing the covers! Most genres don’t aim for having pretty eye candy on the cover first and foremost, so it’s a nice change to do a cover that requires it. That’s the thing I like about romance covers: they’re just lovely for the sake of being lovely. It pleases the bird part of me.
There’s not much more to this one than the first book in the series. The only thing that springs to mind is the extra shading I had to do to realistically place the model in this background, but no new challenges really. It just looks nice. I like it. Mostly, I hope prospective readers like it as much as I do and it sells lots and lots of books for Michele so she can write more of them. BUY ALL THE BOOKS.
